Spicy Bonda

Ingredients: 2 Cups of Bengal Gram Flour (Kadalai Maavu) 1 Cup of Idly Batter 1 Cup of Chopped Onion 5-6 Green Chillies (Chopped) 1/2 Cup of Coriander Leaves (Chopped) Salt as per the requirement A pinch of Baking Soda (optional) Preparation: Add bengal gram flour with idly batter and mix them along with little water. Don't add too much water as the mixture  should be just little thicker than idly batter. After 15 minutes add chopped onions, green chillies, coriander leaves to this mixture.  Also, add salt as per the requirement and a pinch of baking soda (optionally). Mix them well  Heat require amount of oil in a pan Prepare lemon sized small ball out of this mixture and deep fry them in oil till it turns golden brown color Repeat the procedure for the remaining mixture/balls Spicy bonda is now ready and you can serve this with coconut chuttney or Onion chuttney

Vendakkai Kuzhambu (Okra Gravy)

Ingrediants: Okra (ladies finger) - 100gm Preferably Sambar onion - 10 nos ( else normal onion medium size 1 no.) Grated Coconut (1/4 th of coconut) Garlic 5 individual pieces Red chillies - 3 nos Fenugreek 1/4 spoon Channa daal - 2 spoon Salt Oil  Curry leaves Tamarind - 10gm Turmeric powder Preparation: Prepare Tamarind paste Place the Tamarind into small portion of water in the cup and keep them aside   After 10 mins mix them well in hand and filter it to become a paste Prepare gravy core paste With little oil (1/2 spoon) fry the below items in the kadai with  sim flame only Channa daal, fenugreek, curry leaves, 2 or 3 red chillies, 5 pieces of  garlic Fry them till little brownish and keep them aside With the mixer add  grated  coconut and little water, grind them for some time till it becomes paste Keep this paste aside Gravy preparation  In the same kadai, with one spoon of oil, fry the below items.  Onion (10 pieces - this can be cut i

Pal (Milk) Puri

Worried about excess puri after meal ? You can use them to prepare milk puri which can be consumed immediately and it is liked by everyone. Ingredients: Puri - 5 nos (slice into small pieces) 1 Glass of Boiled Milk (100 ml) 5 Table Spoons of Sugar Preparation: In a bowl add sugar with boiled milk (Milk should be hot). Mix it well. Dip puri slices with milk. Leave it for 2 minutes. Serve Sweet Puri. Tips: You can also use salt instead of sugar ( for diabetic people)  

Kathirikai Poriyal / Brinjal Poriyal

Ingredients: 10 Brinjal 1 Onion (cut into lengthwise, thin in size) 3 Green chillies (chopped) 1 Tomato (chopped) Few curry leaves A pinch turmeric powder 1 tsp Sambar powder (milakai podi) 4-5 tps Oil 1/4 tps Mustard seeds 1/4 tsp Urad dal 1/4 tsp Channa dal Preparation: Heat oil in a kadai and season with mustard seeds, urad dal and channa dal Then fry onions, curry leaves and green chillies. Add tomato and fry it for 5 minutes Now add brinjal, salt, turmeric powder, sambar powder and fry it in low flame until it cooks well (30-40 minutes) Kathirikai Poriyal is ready to serve !!! Tips : While frying do not add water. Fry it with oil in a low flame. This will make the dish more crispy and tasty Use Home made sambar powder. It will give better taste and healthy too

Tomato Ridge Gourd Curry (Thakkali Peerkangai Kuzhambu)

Ingredients: 1 Medium size ridge gourd 3 Medium size tomato 10-12 Small onion (chopped) 1 tsp Coriander seeds 1 tsp Cumin seeds 1 Sting curry leaves 2 Green chillies 2 Red chillies 2 tsp Oil 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds Preparation: Peel the skin of ridge gourd and cut into small pieces, and also cut the tomato's Meanwhile crush the coriander and cumin seeds, keep it aside Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds  when it pops up add onion, curry leaves, green chillies, red chillies and fry it for sometime and add crushed cumin+coriander seeds. Fry it for a minute in a medium flame Add tomato + ridge gourd pieces and required amount of salt. Fry it for few minute and add some water Cook it for 15-20 minutes (add water if required). Remove from stove and smash the mixture well using mixer grinder. (normally wooden hand mixer is used in villages to crush the mixture) Now Tomato Ridge Gourd Curry is ready to serve !!! Home Made Bajji

Ingredients: 1 Cup raw rice (Pacharisi) 1/2 Cup gram flour (Kadalamavu) 1/4 Cup idly batter 10 Red chillies 2 tsp of jeera (Seerakam) 1 sting curry leaves A pinch hing powder (Perungayam) Salt as per the requirment 1 Raw banana Oil to fry Preparation: Soak raw rice up to 2 hours. Drain the water and keep aside In a mixer grinder add soaked rice, red chillies, jeera and curry leaves. Make it as a smoth paste In a wide vessel mix this paste with gram flour, idly batter, salt and hing powder Mix them well and make a thick batter Cut the raw banana into thin slices lengthwise Dip the slices in the batter and fry them in hot oil till golden brown Use a tissue paper to drain out excess oil  Serve the tasty hot Bajji with Coconut chutney or onion chutney Tips: You can also use this batter to prepare onion, cauliflower, potato and bread slice bajjies.

Kollu Paruppu Podi (Kollu Podi)

Ingredients : 1 Cup of Horse gram (Kollu Paruppu) 10-12 Sambar onion (Chopped) 1 tsp of Cumin seeds 1 tsp of Coriander seeds 5 Green chilies (chopped lengthwise) Few curry leaves 3 tsp of Oil Salt as per the requirement Preparation : Pressure cook the horse gram with 4 cups of water for 7-8 whistles (the lentil should be cooked well) After the full release of the vapor, drain water fully (You can use this water to prepare Kollu Rasam) Meanwhile, crush cumin seeds and coriander seeds coarsely In a aluminum vessel heat 3 table spoon of oil, add chopped onion, curry leaves, green chillies and fry it for sometime and add crushed cumin + coriander seeds. Fry it for a minute in a medium flame Add the cooked horse gram (without water) and required amount of salt. Mix it well Add few raw small onions and curry leaves Now crush it using mixer grinder Now Kollu Paruppu Podi is ready to serve!!!
