Chow Chow Poriyal

  • 2 Chow Chow
  • 10 small onion chopped
  • 2 tsp of oil
  • 2 tsp grated coconut
  • 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp bengal gram dal
  • 1/2 tsp urad dal
  • 1 tsp chilly powder (milagai podi)
  • 1 red chilly
  • Few curry leaves
  • Salt as per the requirement

  • Peel the skin and remove the  inner white nut of chow chow. Chop the chow chow into small cubes and clean it with water and strain it and keep it aside
  • Fry mustard seeds, urad dal, bengal gram dal in 3 tsp of oil
  • Once fried, add chopped onions, red chilly few curry leaves, fry it for a minute. Add chopped chow chow cubes and fry it in a low flame for few minutes
  • Add required amount of salt, 1 tsp of chilly powder (milagai podi). Fry it in a medium flame. Cook it in a medium flame with closed pan (sprinkle some water if required) . Stir it every 2-3 minutes
  • After 15 minutes (when the water is absorbed), add 2 tsp of grated coconut and stir it for 5 minutes
  • Now Chow Chow Poriyal is ready to serve !!!
