Bonda (Rice Bonda / Kara Bonda)

  • 1 Cup of Rice
  • 1/4 Cup of Urad Dall
  • small onions 1/4 kg (Finely chopped)
  • 10 green chilles
  • 1 table spoon of Cumin Seeds (Zeera)
  • 10-15 Curry Leaves
  • 3 Cups of Water
  • 1/4 litre oil (to fry)
  • Salt as per the requirement
  • Place Urad dal in a cup and soak them in the water for about 4 to 5 hours
  • Similarly Soak rice separately in the water for the same duration
  • After the due time, filter the water and grind the rice to make a smooth rice paste (This paste should be thicker than idly rice paste)
  • Similarly grind the Urad dal to make a smooth paste (This paste should be thicker than idly Urad dal paste)
  • After grinding, mix both the pastes together with chopped onion, 10-15 curry leaves, cumin seeds, chopped green chillies and required amount of salt
  • Make this mixed paste into small balls.
  • Heat the 1/4 litre oil in a wide pan, and fry this balls till it turn golden brown color (You can smell a good odour)
  • Repeat the procedure for the remaining mixture
  • Now Serve the Hot and Sweet Bonda (Rice Bonda / Kara Bonda) with Coconut Chuttny or Sambar
