Idly Upma

  • 4-5 idlies
  • 25 grams small onion (Chinna vengayam)
  • 3 Green chillies - cut into pieces
  • 1/2 table spoon of mustard seeds
  • 10-15 Curry Leaves
  • Oil
  • 1/2 table spoon of urad daal
  • 1/2 table spoon Bengal Gram (Kadalai paruppu)
  • Salt as per the requirement

  • Smash idlies into small pieces.
  • Heat the oil in a pan, once it becomes hot, fry in the order of mustard seeds, urad daal, bengal gram.
  • After a little bit of time once they become brownish, add the chopped onions then followed by curry leaves, pieces of green chillies and (optionally you can add a pinch of turmeric powder) then wait for the onion to become brownish.

  • Now add the smashed idly pieces (If required add a little salt as idly already contains it)
  • Fry the whole mixture for 1 or 2 minutes
  • Now serve the hot Idly Upma with coconut chuttney
